Review highlights
Based on 54 reviewsLiu Liu Sheng Jian, located in the New World Mall food court in Flushing, is popularly recognized for its pan-fried pork buns, which are praised for their juiciness, fresh ingredients, and flavorful, crispy bottoms. Customers appreciate the quick service and affordable pricing, typically offering multiple buns per order. The setting provides ample seating and complimentary dipping sauces, enhancing the overall dining experience. While many find the buns delicious and satisfying, some note that the soupiness can make them a bit messy to eat, and a few mention that the flavor, while excellent, slightly falls short of the authentic Hong Kong experience. Limited cell service in the food court is occasionally noted as a minor inconvenience. Overall, Liu Liu Sheng Jian is celebrated as a worthy stop for authentic, fast Chinese street food in Flushing.
Delish pan fried pork buns / dumplings! They are VERY soupy and are def messy to eat - but really nice. 6 for $10 or 8 for $12. Very fast service. It’s at the back of the new world food court. Plenty of tables to sit at. They also have complementary soy vinegar and chili sauce.
Got their 6 Shanghai Pan Fried Buns. You can watch them cook them in batches on the spot. They’re juicy and have that nice signature fried bun bottom. Don’t forget to grab dipping sauce. Staff are quick and food comes out still piping hot. This food stall is located at the bottom floor food court among other Chinese food options in a large mall. Keep in mind cell service is virtually nonexistent down there so plan ahead.
This is located near the corner of the food court full of various Chinese cuisines in the New World Mall. When you go down the escalator, keep going straight to the end and it will be on your right side. I miss the pan fried dumplings I had in my last visit to Hong Kong, and so far this is one of the closest but not quite a match for what I had in HK. I would come again to snack on this but not eat this as a complete meal.
During our recent trip to NYC I took a 40 min subway train ride from Grand Central Station in mid-town Manhattan (just down the road from our hotel) to the great Asian food court in the New World Mall, out in the Flushing district of New York, to try some of their fantastic food offerings I had read so much about. After exiting the subway station I went straight down to the foodhall in the basement of the Mall to find some Chinese food for lunch. There were a large number of stalls selling a very diverse range of different regional Chinese and other Asian cuisines and the only one that had a small queue was the Liu Liu Sheng Jian stall, in the bottom right hand corner as you get off the esculator. So I made my way over there to see quite a few ladies at the back of the stall hand making soup dumplings, which were pan fried in 4 large circular frying pans at the front of the counter by another lady, with a cashier taking orders and payment. They were selling pan fried soup dumplings at 6 for $10 and 8 for $12. I have never eaten these before so I ordered 6 and waited a few minutes for a new batch to be fried up. Although I had never eaten them before, I have watched videos of prople eating soup dumplings, so I knew I had to make a little hole in the top of the dumplings to let the heat out, wait a while to let them cool down, then pick them up to drink the soup directly into my mouth before breaking the dumplings up, dipping them into a hot chilli sauce and eating them. The soup dumplings were devine with a very tasty soup inside, a delicious peppery minced pork filling, crispy fried base and soft doughy case. They were very filling & great value at 6 for $10. 8 would have been enough to feed 2 people for $12.
I wonder if the lack of reviews is because everyone is gate keeping this place??? The pan fried pork buns here are so legit!!! Juicy and fresh and cheap!! The wait was about 15mins. I’m surprised there aren’t more reviews for this gem (located in the food court of New World Mall).
Outstanding soup dumplings with really great flavor and freshly made. This place is extremely busy so expect a wait time of around 15 minutes on weekends. It’s definitely worth the wait. The people are very friendly and this place is a not-so-hidden gem.
Flavorful pan fried soup dumplings. Soup is piping hot, meat and dough are tasty with nice texture, and chili oil is very good and spicy. Need to eat carefully to not squirt the soup all over the place.
